Pennsylvania MENTOR Gives Back at Keck Park as Part of Annual Volunteer Day

Staff and family members came together on Saturday, April 25, as part of The MENTOR Network’s Third Annual National Volunteer Day. Volunteers spent the morning cleaning up Keck Park, a park enjoyed by people of all ages in Allentown and surrounding communities.
With programs throughout the state, Pennsylvania MENTOR provides home- and community-based services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and youth at risk and their families. A part of The MENTOR Network, a national network of local health and human services providers, Pennsylvania MENTOR joined nearly 2,500 Network volunteers in 50 service projects in 17 states.
“While we’re part of a national network of providers, our programs are rooted in the communities we serve,” said Mike Wilder, Executive Director of Pennsylvania MENTOR. “This event gives our team a great opportunity to make a difference locally through volunteerism while also being part of a larger effort to positively impact communities throughout the country.”
Pennsylvania MENTOR looked for volunteer projects that would benefit individuals similar to the populations they serve as an organization or mirror their mission of helping people thrive in the communities they call home.
“The folks at Allentown’s Parks and Recreation department are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our city for people of all ages and abilities,” said Mr. Wilder, “so we were excited to partner with them.”
