PA MENTOR Participating in Mental Health Awareness Walk

PA MENTOR will be participating in the 12th Annual Mental Health Awareness Walk in Stroudsburg. The Mental Health Awareness Walk is sponsored by the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Developmental Services (MH/DS) and the Community Support Programs (CSP) of Carbon, Monroe, and Pike Counties. The theme of the walk this year is “Every Step in Recovery Helps Stomp out Stigma". The purpose of the walk is to combat stigma that persists and negatively impacts persons with mental illnesses. The Mental Health Awareness Walk is an opportunity for individuals, families, advocates, and the community to come together to dispel the myth of mental illness, heighten awareness of attitudes and stereotypes/prejudices, and promote wellness and recovery.The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the New Hope Recovery Work Center located at 801 Main Street in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The walk will proceed along Main Street in Stroudsburg to Dansbury Park in East Stroudsburg, where lunch will be provided.
